How
a snazzy business card
resulted in a $5,000 Sale*
A
friend of mine and his wife recently moved to a new state. Rather than
take all their old furniture they decided to start with all new furniture.
They spent their first day in the new location furniture shopping. By the
end of the day they had gone to 8 stores and had 8 business cards … and a
huge headache.
After
dinner they decided they would go back the next day to purchase their
furniture. The problem was they had been to many stores and seen so many
things they were confused. They decided to look at the business cards so
they could decide where to go the next day.
7 of
the Business Cards were your garden variety white cards with one or two
color writing on them. They struggled to remember which store had which
furniture. All the cards looked the same; except one. This one guy, we
will call him Bob, had decided to make his card stand out a little by
putting his picture on it and also a couple of color pictures of his
furniture. When they saw that card they immediately remembered Bob.
To
make a long story short they went back to Bob the next day and ordered a
new living room set, and a china Closet. They spent over $5,000. When they
told Bob that they remembered him from his card. he replied “You know its
funny but I have heard that same comment more than a few times. I guess
a nice business card can make a difference” .
Moral: Be like Bob :)
* This is a true story |

I received business cards when I started working for
Select Mortgage Inc. with all my information but no picture or design.
I decided I wanted to try the name with the face approach like so many
people rave about. I met with Jack from
BusinessCardMakeover.com and only provided him with my
contact information. I simply said I wanted something fun that would
stand out. That is what I got. Everyone I give my card to know loves
the look and I feel it stays in there mind. If you want to add a
memory in someone's mind ask Jack to design a new card for you!

I used to use free cards, from some online place. They
were pretty but basically everyone else had some like them. I decided I
wanted something more professional, so had some cards designed at
BusinessCardMakeover.com
I get rave reviews everyplace I give out my new
business cards, and found more people hang on to them. If you want your
business to stand out from the competition., ask them to redesign your
cards. You want to make a good impression.

Smarter Business Card Tip #1
Put
your picture on it!
If you really want people to
remember you put your picture on your business card. You don't
have to be a supermodel, just a normal picture will do. People
like to see who they are dealing with and they will tend to hold
on to your card longer. While the cost of having your picture on
a business card was very expensive in the past the new digital technology
makes it very affordable.

30
Million business cards a day!
There
are over 30 million business cards traded daily in the United
States. So it is no wonder that your card may get lost in the
shuffle. How many times have you looked at a business card, tried to
remember the person who gave you the card, and what product or
service that person sells? How many cards can be carried in a wallet
or purse? Is yours going to be one of them?
Your goal should be to get your message
into the hands of your prospective clients so that they can see you
as a competent, sophisticated and professional expert who can solve
their problems. A business card is the most cost effective way to
accomplish this end. It is the easiest of all types of advertising
to store and file and is also the only media which has a dramatic
potential for networking your business. So, fight hard to get the
information about your product or services into the client's
billfolds, glove compartment or card holder - where it should stay
indefinitely!

Business Cards around the world
The
exchange of business cards is an essential part of the Asian
business etiquette. After a person has introduced him/herself and
bowed, the business card ceremony begins. The card is presented
with the front side facing upward toward the recipient. Offering
the card with both hands demonstrates greater respect. If there
are several Japanese, you will find that cards are presented
according to rank, with the highest-ranking individual presenting
his card last.
The
Japanese expect you to take the time to carefully read and
memorize all pertinent information.
Business cards are considered an
extension of the individual -
not just a tool to help you find somebody
after you met them. They are normally carried in a distinctive
business card case.
Initially, the card will
announce your identity and corporate affiliation. In fact,
business cards offer their owner such a degree of credibility
that government officials will often sign their name and the date
on the back of the card to guard against fraud. (However, it is
considered bad etiquette to write on a business card in front of
a Japanese person). The card serves the important purpose of
identifying your position within the corporate hierarchy.

Make it Last!
The real cost of a business card is
getting it to the recipient and that could be expensive - if you count
your time. So, it is important to design the card to have an indefinite
shelf life, in order to amortize that cost. You do not want your card
thrown out after a month or two, particularly when the prospect may have a
need for your product or services sometime further down the road and can't
remember you. Take a little more time and thought in laying out the card.
Design it to last, to be remembered, to act as a "Mini Billboard",
reflecting quality and using materials that are always worthy of your
ideas, products and services |

Business Card
Trap # 1
Designing and printing Cards on your computer
Some people like to design and print their own
cards on the computer. If you only use a small amount of cards
this is ok but a few things to consider:
(1) You may use up a lot of time that would be
better off spent doing what you do best ... promoting your
product or service!
(2) Unless you are a professional graphic
designer and are using high quality glossy stock the card
may wind up looking like you designed it yourself and printed it
on the computer :)
(3) While you may think you are saving money
printing small quantities of cards on your computer if you take
the cost into account the cost of good quality glossy stock and
the price of ink cartridges you may you would be surprised at how
much you are actually spending
Let a
BusinessCardMakeover.com professional design your
business card. You will be pleasantly surprised to see that the
price is very affordable and the consultation is free with no
obligation. For more info

Free
Business Cards ... are
they a good deal?
OK so you are probably
thinking how can something free NOT be a good deal?
Well if somebody offered you a broken leg for
free would you take it? Ok that's an extreme example but my
point is a free business card may be hurting your business.
These companies are not
stupid. They are not offering the highest quality glossy stock for free.
That right there sends a message to your customer. They also only
offer a few stock "designs". So your card looks like everybody else's free
card. Not good if you want your business card to stand out!
Finally, in case there
was any confusion as to whether or not your card was worthless they print
something like this on the back of your card "Get your Business Cards Free
at xyz.com"
Your customer now thinks
one of two things:
(1) Your Cheap
(2) You can't afford Business Cards
This is the same
impression you might give if you showed up at a sales appointment in a
broken down car with dirty jeans, unkempt hair, and sneakers. Remember,
first impressions are everything and a quality business card, like a suit
or nice shoes is an integral part of that first impression.

Smarter Business Card Tip #2
Use a "Tag Line" on your
Business Card
If you have the ability to choose the content
and wording of your card ,, be creative! Instead of using
your card as a "contact card" use it as mini-billboard.
Pretend that you are writing a classified ad
for a newspaper. You only have a small amount of space to
describe your product or service in an intriguing way What would
you write to describe it?
Lets say you sell franchises to people who
want to own their own business. Could you say something like
this"
"Helping people Fire their Boss Since
1989"
Or what if you are a Realtor
"Helping people build dreams . one home
at a time"
Those are just a few off the top of my head
but you get the idea. Write down a few, and play around with
them. You may have to shorten them to fit on your business card.
Most of all .. have fun!!
